About Mari-Anne Valkass
My name is Mari-Anne, I am a fully qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist (GQHP, GHR Reg.), Grief and Bereavement Counsellor, and Reiki practitioner. I previously taught Secondary and HND level science, and worked as an Assistant Psychologist utilising CBT and Meditation in my practice. I can offer Hypnotherapy, Reiki, Counselling, NLP, EFT and CBT to help people overcome their problems. I tend to take a problem-solving/ solution-based approach to issues people have and offer a choice of possible therapeutic solutions to clients problems. I take an eclectic and integrative approach to counselling and session work, therefore I offer bespoke courses designed for the client, not a general course, as I believe that therapies work best when they are the most appropriate to the individual client. Furthermore, I offer any of the range of therapies available to clients utilising Anger Management or Stress Management courses.
I have completed separate courses in supporting Adults with ABI/ TB and have experience in the field. Supporting adults with Acquired Brain Injury and their families is my niche field, especially in regard to Grief and Bereavement counselling either for the family or person with ABI grieving the loss of the life they had prior to Brain injury.
My training, work experience and any achievement
MEd (Post-16), BSc (Hons) Applied Psychology 2.1, BSc (Hons) Chemistry and Pharmacology 2.2, PGCE (Secondary Science), SAC (Dip) Neuropsychogical Immunology, SAC (Dip) Bereavement Counselling, NVQ3 Health and Social Care, Diploma in Hypnotherapy, Level 2 Reiki, GQHP, GHR Reg.
Other concerns & issues I deal with
I also provide therapy for adults with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or Traumatic Brain Injury, as my background was in rehabilitating adults with ABI. I also have extensive experience counselling women who have suffered bereavement with babies either late in pregnancy or early after birth, working at Liverpool Womens Hospital for 3 years in Family support. and in the Chaplaincy.
