About Sarah Child MBACP MSTAT
I offer counselling in a safe and confidential setting in the "west end"of Worthing town. I am a fully qualified and experienced integrative counsellor. (See below for information about Alexander Technique)
If you are considering counselling, consider booking a free session. Thre is no obligation, amd you will be warmly received. This session can help you on your way to starting on a series of regular sessions with a counsellor of your choice.
Counselling is a time to talk, explore feelings, experience new perspectives or more understanding, leading to a sense of healing or moving forwards. I have found that our counselling relationship is the creative force that promotes healing or change.
Integrative counselling offers different ways of working in the Humanist approach to therapy. Each individual receives a personal response and their pathway is unique.
Integrative counselling also has the sense of integrity or wholeness. Longer periods of counselling can help integrate and heal difficult aspects of our life.
My service to you as an Alexander teacher is separate from counselling. Alexander Technique can help with physical discomfort, stress, and often people associate Alexander lessons with improving posture, beating back pain, and voice and breathing problems. Please come for a trial lesson, and you may be surprised at how relaxed you feel. Nevertheless, through Alexander Technique you may be able to change your experience in life.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I hold a Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling awarded by Wealden College of Psychology, in Crowborough, 2011. This diploma is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have trained and worked for the Charity, Brighton Women’s Centre, and Age UK, Brighton and Hove. 2008-2011
I have also undergone formal training in drug and
alcohol dependency counselling from a recognised organisation specialising in work in this field, 2005
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
I am a certified Teacher of the Alexander Technique, following a 3 year training in Brighton 1990-1993.
