About Teddington Private Counselling
I am a trained and qualified Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist. In order to comply with their strict requirements for all accredited members, I fulfill my CPD requirements, hold full personal indemnity insurance, attend regular courses and regular supervision with fellow professionals, to go over each other’s work as a means of helping and monitoring our work. I also abide by the BACP’s Code of Conduct and Ethical Practice.
After the initial contact, we would arrange our first meeting ( lasting 1 hour). This would be an opportunity for you as the client to discuss what has brought you to counselling and gain some understanding of how I work and the therapeutic process. Our work together is one whereby I offer a safe, boundaried and confidential space to closely and sensitively explore the problems presented. It is a neutral and non-judgemental relationship, although at times there may be some challenges in order to work towards greater self understanding and confidence. Deep set feelings, thoughts and behaviours are looked at in order to move towards greater self awareness and the ability to take charge of your life.We would explore how the current, difficult situation may be linked to past relationships and experiences, whilst also looking at what is happening today and how the future could be different.
My training, work experience and any achievement
My background was originally in Psychology (with a BA Single Hon, Exeter). In my early 40s I decided to go back to my former training and specialised in counselling, and attained my Diploma in Professional Counselling (Integrative) at Kingston College in 1999. . Since then I have further consolidated my training with numerous specialised courses, whilst maintaining my Senior Accredited Membership status with the BACP (The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have worked in a wide variety of professional settings : the Staff Welfare of the local Council, as a GP Counsellor, as a Senior School Counsellor, for a variety of large companies via their EAP (Private Insurance arrangements) and I now work primarily in private practice from my dedicated consulting room.
My experience as a counsellor has brought me into contact with a wide range of clients in terms of the issues they bring, their age, gender, race, religion and sexuality. I work both with individuals and couples and adults over the age of 16 years.
I am registered as a BUPA provider. Further Information
