About Jill Hinton MBACP (Accred)
Practising alternative therapies fifteen years ago, I began to see that the healing process was also happening through talking, the telling of the story, and decided to train as a counsellor. This background has given me a holistic approach to my work as companion on the individual’s journey towards self-discovery, of coming to a place of self-acceptance, and in so doing creating opportunity for personal growth.
My private practice - in the heart of Redruth, within easy reach of the A30, train station and buses - includes working with couples, individuals referred by Employment Assisted Programmes (EAPS), students on counselling courses and those who find their own way to me, in search of support through difficult or troubled times.
My training, work experience and any achievement
• BA (First Class Hons) in Counselling Studies (Uni of Plymouth)
• Certificate in Advanced Counselling Studies (Uni of Plymouth)
• Diploma in Professional Studies in Counselling (Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy) (Uni of Plymouth)
• Certificate of Professional Development in Counselling Supervision
• Certificate in Education (Uni of Plymouth)
I worked for many years as a counsellor in Primary Care, concerned with the emotional well-being of individuals bringing a host of concerns: low self-esteem, relationship problems, stress, bereavement, sexual abuse, anxiety and depression to name a few. I also set up and facilitated a weekly depression support group for several years. My interest in group work led to me teaching counselling skills and personal development in Higher Education and to facilitating and supporting groups within the NHS.
