About Isobel Lock
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself and the service that I offer. I am a fully-qualified counselor with a Post -Graduate Diploma and have been working within a counselling environment for about 16 years.
I am a member of the BACP the governing body for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work within their ethical framework. The counselling that I provide is Person Centered and it works by helping people to explore their feelings in regard to any issues they may have. The counselling is a confidential, respectful, empathic way of working which is non-judgemental and safe for the client.
As a private counselor I work with people who are dealing with many different issues and for the last few years I have worked with clients with eating disorders, different types of addiction, sexual abuse, domestic violence , bereavement and relationship problems. I have recently completed a bereavement awareness course at Cruse and help in the running of the Newark branch.
I continue to look at different types of training that keeps me up to date and have now started a supervisors course so that I am able to help trainees deliver a safe and reliable service. I also attend regular sessions of supervision.
My sessions last 1 hour in which I provide a warm, reassuring and welcoming space for people to explore their concerns in a safe and protected environment.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I am a fully-qualified counsellor with over 16 years experience. I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and although I work in a Person-centred way I have knowledge and training in different styles of counselling. I am a member of the BACP and work within the ethical framework set down by their governing body. I have had many years experience of working in a generic counselling service which I helped to set up in a rural location in Aberdeenshire, and I spent 3 years working at the Foyer in Aberdeen/ Stonehaven with young people 16-25 who have suffered from homelessness, drug and
alcohol dependency and mental, sexual and physical abuse . I have recently completed the A.B.C. course, a bereavement awareness course run by Cruse and I am now working within the organisation both as a volunteer and as the Chairperson of the Newark branch. In October 2012 I started a supervisors course and am now looking for supervisees which I will see through the period of my training at a reduced rate.
