About Leanne Orrick
I like to believe that everything happens for a reason.
If someone had told me 20 years ago that I would one day become a counsellor, I wouldn’t have believed them. I would have laughed. And I probably would have been scared by the very idea!
Yet, here I am, able to offer the kind of help I once needed myself.
And here you are, looking for someone to walk with you through this difficult time in your life.
I can give you the opportunity to unpack and explore any issues, past, present or future, that might be affecting your life in the here and now. I work in a calm and confidential environment tailored to ensure you feel comfortable, safe and supported enough to really look at what has brought you to this point in your life. Then, together, we can work towards a positive change with your individual hopes, dreams and goals in mind, helping you to better understand yourself and others.
Having had counselling myself and working with a wide range of clients and issues, I can offer warmth, empathy and genuineness without judgement. I know what it is like to be in the client’s seat and my top priority is to really hear what you are trying to say, whether that be via words, pictures or body language. I understand that everyone is different and my passion is to find a way of working that benefits you, because you are unique. The circumstances that led me to counselling and to eventually becoming a counsellor are all part and parcel of my life’s journey. With trust, respect and a willingness to work, we can explore your life’s journey and, hopefully, piece together what is working for you, what is not and what we can do about it.
Like I said, everything happens for a reason.
How might therapy help you?
Counselling can help with specific areas of your life such as depression, bereavement, anxiety, confidence issues or suicidal thoughts, to name just a few. It can enable you to put your life back into perspective if you have been knocked off course or are stuck and unable to move forward.
Therapy can also work wonders when you don’t know what’s wrong. We don’t always have the luxury of knowing what is troubling us. The right counsellor can help to explore and unlock issues, uncovering past hurts and buried emotions, healing old wounds. It isn’t always easy but it is always worth it.
Why work with me?
I trained for five years to become a fully qualified Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This ensures that my qualifications and status are professionally recognised and that I work strictly within their professional framework and code of ethics put in place to keep you, the client, safe and protected.
I run a private practice in St. Helens, offering an integrative approach to counselling but specialising in Person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural therapies. Counselling is not ‘one size fits all’ and sometimes a mix of approaches is necessary to get to the heart of the issue at hand.
I am also part of The Change Agency - a handpicked group of therapists who work alongside each other, specialising in many different areas of counselling. If what I can offer is not quite what you were looking for, I can find an Agent to suit you and get you the help you need.
Taking the first step…
If you like what you have read today, you can either contact me by telephone, text or email to set up an appointment for an initial face to face assessment. Your confidentiality is of the highest importance to me and I’d like to assure you that my mobile number and email are completely private. If you send me a text, I will call you back at your earliest convenience.
The assessment lasts half an hour and is completely free of charge. It gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have and allows us to see if working together might be beneficial to you. You are under no obligation to begin counselling with me and any reason you have for this is valid. This is your personal choice and only you can decide what feels right for you.
