About Dr Sue Robinson
I have worked in private practice for over 20 years. I have also worked in the NHS, schools private, voluntary sectors and offer a variety of therapeutic interventions. These include systemic couple therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR).
People say they find me caring and able to help overcome issues which are troubling or upsetting to them. It can be hard to contact someone to talk at first but people usually find me warm, open and receptive.
I have worked with children and families in schools, with adults for couple and individual therapy in NHS and private hospitals and I am approved by many private insurance companies such as BUPA, PruHealth, Aviva, Cigna, GroupAMA and others.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I am trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, a systemic therapist, an eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapist (EMDR) and in coherence therapy with the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I have seen couples, children and families. I have trained and supervised therapists as well as counsellors for many years. I have also published papers and book chapters for professional therapists. Further Information
I believe that supervision is finding the right level of support and challenge for the individual and that this is something that changes through time. Helping supervisees find their own talents as well as occasionally giving advice when appropriate is a creative tension which I welcome. I have been a supervisor for many years. I am careful to stay fresh in my approach by continuing to update my skills.
I have also taught theory and practice across a wide area of theoretical orientations and keep abreast of developments in the field of psychotherapy.I enjoy working with supervisees at all stages in their profession and believe that as a supervisor I must be flexible to the needs of the individual.
I use a variety of supervision models for my own practice.
