About Alison Kings
Psychotherapy offers a safe confidential space in which to explore any aspects of life, such as relationships, anxiety, cultural issues, difficult thoughts and feelings, or just feeling that something is amiss with your life.
I am interested in present and past feelings, and in unconscious processes, which we can access through our dreams.
Psychotherapy is an exploration of any or all aspects of your life, made in collaboration with a trained and experienced professional. Therapeutic growth happens as trust builds, and you get to know yourself better. Some of the deeper changes happen very gradually.
I welcome enquiries from people of all backgrounds.

My training, work experience and any achievement
I have been working with people in private practice since 1993, initially as a psychodynamic counsellor, and subsequently as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I completed my training at The Guild of Psychotherapists in 2005. http://guildofpsychotherapists.org.uk
Alongside this, I have more than ten years NHS experience, most recently as a clinician and manager of a primary care GP counselling service in Newham, East London. Prior to this, I worked in the voluntary sector in a small counselling service.
I am also interested in supporting professional people in the psychological work that they do, and to this end I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists, and I run reflective practice groups for clergy.
Before my counselling career began, I lived for seven years in rural Kenya.
I adhere to the UKCP and BACP professional codes of ethics, Further Information
