About The Ampthill Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy
I am a Humanistic, Integrative counsellor, trained in person-centered and psychodynamic counselling in addition to transactional analysis and CBT. My approach is based on the relational model and I believe that the therapeutic relationship between a counsellor and client is paramount. My qualification is based on the integration of a number of psychotherapeutic paradigms, and I am therefore able to fit my way of working to an individual client, rather than the reverse.
In addition to the Ampthill Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I have practices at The Clophill Centre and The Dunton Centre near Biggleswade.
I spent a number of years working in ’people’ professions: initially as a librarian / careers information advisor, and latterly as an information professional and a lecturer, before embarking on a career in counselling. I believe this has given me a broad experience of people and their problems.
I am bilingual (English / Danish).
My training, work experience and any achievement
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and, in addition to the Humanistic model (transactional analysis, person-centered, gestalt); I am also trained in psychodynamic counselling and CBT. I am a member of BACP, and a CCC Registered Counsellor.
My background is in education, where I have lectured in both Further and Higher Education. I also have extensive experience in dealing with employment issues, with a specific interest in counselling victims of bullying.
I have experience and training in working with survivors of sexual abuse, people with relationship difficulties and a number of other presenting problems. Further Information
There are many times in our life when we need additional help to deal with problems. At its most basic level, counselling is having someone listen to your problems. At ACCP you will find someone who is suitably trained and qualified, not only to listen to your problems, but to facilitate the changes needed to improve whatever situation you present with.
