About Balham Counselling and Psychotherapy
My name is Paul Bowley and i have just set up my practice in the heart of the Hyde Farm estate in Balham after many successful years in the midlands.
Counselling enables someone to deal with those difficult and often reoccurring issues that just dont seen to go away, by working through those problems it is more than possible to change things so that person can reach their fullest potential.
I have been working as a Counsellor / Psychotherapist for just over 8 years.
I have extensive experience having worked for Youth agencies with Young people from the age of 11 years old to working with Adults in my previous private Practice – Naseby Counselling practice that was based in Northamptonshire.
I have also had experience of working with Employee Assistance programmes and for Health care providers.
My many years within Local government mean I also have a good insight into Adult social care as well.
I was trained in the Person Centered Model of counselling this means that I work with the person using the 3 core conditions of Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive regard to support that person to affect change within their lives to enable them to reach their fullest potentials.
Although I tend to classify myself as a Humanistic therapist now as I integrate other Humanistic therapies into my sessions, Gestalt, Transactional analysis and Existential therapies.
Working in a truly Centered way means that I have the belief that my clients have the fullest capacity to heal themselves given the right support and environment and that the path of support is very fluid and evolves with each individual.
Counselling/Psychotherapy are terms relating to short term or longer term talking therapies that are carried out by trained practitioners whom are under a recognised regulatory professional body.
I am an accredited member and also appear on their voluntary register-number 020459
