6 Things Your Skin Needs to Stay Healthy
For many people, especially girls, having a young-looking, radiant skin matters. It matters big time. There’s no wonder why the skincare is a billion-dollar industry. But sometimes, despite using expensive creams and lotions, and undergoing skincare treatments, many still struggle with varying skin problems.
But did you know that some of the best skincare treatments are practically for free? You don’t really have to spend a lot to achieve a youthful, glowing skin. Here are some healthy tips for a beautiful, radiant skin:
Exercise
You know that exercise is good for your health. It’s good for every single part of your body, including your skin! When you exercise, you get to excrete salt and unhealthy compounds from your body through sweating. At the same time, your blood flow improves, allowing the nutrients and oxygen to reach your skin. This leaves your skin feeling supple and really glowing.
Exfoliation
You also want to exfoliate to get rid of dead cells in your skin, which usually causes blemishes and dull appearance. But of course you don’t want to exfoliate too often as it could damage your skin. Once a week is enough.
Hydration
Water is practically the cheapest yet one of the most powerful skincare products there are! Remember that your body is made up of 90% water. So it just makes sense to ensure that your skin is well-hydrated. Try to feed your body with at least eight glasses of water every day. Also, increase your intake of natural, homemade citrus juice like orange and lemon. Your skin needs vitamin C as well to produce collagen.
Olive Oil
Who said you need expensive moisturisers? If you have olive oil in the kitchen (sure you do), make use of it. Apply some onto your face and all over your body. Olive oil is infused with so many nutrients that leave your skin hydrated, supple, and healthy!
Nuts
Walnuts, along with other types of nut, contain omega-3 and fatty acids which help fight inflammation and acne breakout. Snacking on a handful of nuts everyday does not only make your skin glow, it also nourishes your heart.
Sleep
Sleep is really crucial to achieving a healthy, glowing skin. Your body, including your skin, undergoes massive repair when you are asleep. Too little sleep can increase the level of cortisol in your body - also called the ‘stress hormone’. Excessive amount of cortisol triggers inflammation, which breaks down collagen - the building block of the skin which makes it elastic and smooth. So make sure you are getting enough Zzzz. After all, your whole body, especially your internal organs and your brain, need it to stay healthy.
